Heat Treating

Heat treating includes processes such as annealing, stress relieving, carburising tempering, solution, and precipitation to modify the properties of metals.

Air Hardening

Nitrogen Gas cooling of steel replaces traditional quenching in oil or water. Two computer-controlled Abar Ipsen's Vacuum Furnaces enhance temperature uniformity and reduce distortion.

Carbonitriding

By diffusing carbon and nitrogen into low carbon/low alloy steel we produce a hard, wear-resistant surface and a tough core. We use the gaseous method with computer-controlled sealed-quench furnaces for minimum distortion and optimal mechanical properties.

Cryogenic Tempering

A heat treatment that involves cooling the material to very low temperatures using liquid nitrogen, to increase its strength and wear resistance. It is ideal for tool steels and high-carbon/high-chromium steels.

Metallurgical Services

Metallurgical services offered include technical advice, material and heat treat recommendations, and testing (hardness, crack, microscopy) to ensure desired results and quality control.

Non-Ferrous Heat Treating

Non-ferrous heat treating is the process of heat-treating metals that do not contain iron, such as Aluminium, Titanium, and copper alloys, to improve their mechanical properties. We have a dedicated, custom built dual drop bottom oven, with computer control and water quenching, for the efficient processing of Aluminium. We can Solution and/or age harden Aluminium to increase its strength and machinability.

Stress Relieving

Stress relieving reduces residual stresses in a component due to welding, forming, or machining. It facilitates further processing and improves the material's properties. We use computer-controlled furnaces with programmable heating and cooling rates.

Black Corrosion Resistant Nitriding (Nitreg® + ONC®)

Nitreg®+ONC® is a low-temp process that enhances corrosion resistance and provides a sleek black finish for nitrided components. It replaces chrome plating and salt bath nitriding while improving wear resistance.

Carburising

By diffusing carbon into low carbon/low alloy steel we get a hard, wear-resistant surface and a tough core. We use the gaseous method with computer-controlled sealed-quench furnaces for minimum distortion and optimal mechanical properties.

Induction Hardening

Induction hardening uses electromagnetic induction followed by water quenching, to rapidly heat and cool cylindrical metal components, effectively imparting a durable surface hardness, and with our twin-spindle CNC-controlled process, we are able to significantly decrease turnaround time and cost for larger batch size jobs, for enhanced efficiency and productivity.

Nitriding

A low temperature, low distortion, surface hardening treatment that improves wear resistance and mechanical properties of most steels. We use the Nitreg process, controlling the nitriding potential of the furnace atmosphere for improved process control. This produces very uniform, and repeatable, compound layers and case depths.

Oil Hardening

Oil hardening is a widely used, time-tested, heat treatment method for steel, involving high-temperature heating followed by rapid immersion in oil. This process enhances hardness, wear resistance, strength, toughness.
